Pseudoephedrine and ephedrine: managing the risk of medicines misuse

In 2008, legal measures were introduced in the UK to manage the misuse of medicines containing pseudoephedrine or ephedrine. A review of evidence conducted in 2015 shows that the measures are continuing to effectively manage the risk of misuse of these medicines.

This report presents the evidence that was available when the regulatory decision was made, showing a ‘snapshot’ of the clinical landscape at the time. However, any advice in this report remains current unless it is superseded by a more recent report (where relevant, this is indicated).
