In August 2004 the 'Controls Assurance Standards for Medical Device Management and Decontamination of Medical Devices' were withdrawn along with the other standards. These have been replaced with 'Standards for Better Health'.
In the past there have been references to the Controls Assurance Standards made in a number of MHRA safety warnings. The action points and messages in those notices remain current, it is only the references to Controls Assurance that are no longer applicable.
The MHRA has a policy of reviewing all advisory notices five years after they have been issued. This process will continue as normal.
