The MHRA are advising consumers not to use the products specified below due to concerns about possible side effects.

Product description

  • Africa Black Ant comes in red and black packaging and is promoted as a natural dietary supplement or ‘herbal Viagra’ for erectile dysfunction and is sold via the internet.
  • Rock Hard Weekend and Pandora capsules come in blister packs and bottles and are marketed as sexual enhancers for men and women.
  • The Best is a male sexual enhancer comes in yellow and red packaging with single blister capsules and is promoted as a ‘herbal Viagra’ for erectile dysfunction.

Reason for warning
The MHRA has received advice from the Federal Agency for Medicinal and Health Products in Belgium and the Food and Drug Administration in the USA that these unlicensed products have been tested and found to contain the Prescription Only Medicine sildenafil.

Possible side effects
Sildenafil can cause potentially life-threatening low blood pressure. Individuals with heart problems are at increased risk of cardiovascular side-effects such as heart attack, stroke, chest pain and abnormal heart beat. Other side-effects include headache, indigestion, dizziness and abnormal vision. Anyone with information about the sale or supply of these products should contact the MHRA.
