Suction catheters. OP-Flex Poole (handle and set) manufactured by Unomedical Limited. Specific product codes and lot numbers are affected.
Unomedical is recalling specific lot and model numbers of Poole suction catheters. A complete list of affected lot numbers supplied to the UK is listed in the Appendix. Affected items were produced from May to December 2007.
These products have been supplied both directly to users from Unomedical and via the distribution chain.
Additionally, certain procedure packs – from the manufacturers listed below – may also contain the affected catheters:
These companies have issued, or will be issuing, a Field Safety Notice (FSN) advising users of which of their products are affected.

Risk of the suction catheter’s outer Poole cover detaching from the handle and remaining in the patient due to a manufacturing fault.
If you purchase procedure packs from CalMed, Molnlycke, Rocialle or Unisurge, check the manufacturer’s Field Safety Notices to see if your stock is affected. If your packs are affected or you are unsure, contact the relevant manufacturer of the procedure pack.
