Automatic external defibrillator
Welch Allyn AED 10 was previously branded as MRL LifeQuest JumpStart in the UK.
The AED 10 is a portable, semi-automatic external defibrillator used in hospitals, ambulances and public places.
Specific serial numbers are affected. See Appendix for full list of affected serial numbers

The serial number is located on the top left of the base of the unit.

Device recall due to quality and performance problems. Devices can fail suddenly and prevent defibrillation of a patient.
Welch Allyn has issued an urgent Field Safety Notice to its UK distributors.
Depending upon the date of manufacture, units may have one or more of the following problems as described briefly below and in detail in the manufacturer’s Field Safety Notice.
- Low energy shock
- Electromagnetic noise interference
- Unexpected shutdown during use
- Blown fuse resulting in device failure
- Loss of voice prompts
- Shut down in cold temperatures
The MHRA is supporting Welch Allyn’s actions to ensure that this Field Safety Notice reaches users of the device.
Locate and check for affected devices against the list of serial numbers.
Contact Welch Allyn for a replacement device.
