Advertising complaint - Direct to Consumer advertising - Paling Walters website - June 2008

A healthcare professional complained to the MHRA concerning advertisements for prescription only medicines which appeared on the Paling Walters website with associated information about the products. The complainant alleged that this breached the prohibition on promoting prescription only medicines to the public.

The MHRA did not uphold the complaint and considered that the website was designed to promote the services of the advertising agency rather than specific medicine brands. The MHRA advised the company to ensure that the presentation of materials and any accompanying text was clearly focussed on their services and not on the attributes of the products.
