The MHRA is seeking applications for research funding as part of our Targeted Research Programme being launched in early November 2009.
The programme’s aim is to commission research projects to support the work of the MHRA and stimulate interest in the intellectual challenges of regulation.
The MHRA is inviting applications for funding of commissioned and collaborative research, and is looking to fund projects that:
- measure the outcomes of regulatory actions
- shed light on risk/benefit problems not addressed by other funding sources or by industry
- explore the use of existing data resources to inform regulatory decisions.
The official launch of the Targeted Research Programme is being held on 6 November 2009 at the Brit Oval, London, which will promote the benefits of research as well as describe previous studies that have been undertaken.
This event will be of relevance to researchers in the NHS or academia with an interest in the use of medicines or medical devices, risk/benefit analysis or outcomes research.
It will also provide an opportunity for academics and NHS staff to understand more fully the opportunities available through the MHRA in order to undertake and lead vigilance research to improve public health, and build national capacity in regulatory science.
