Ministerial Industry Strategy Group (MISG) Forum - May 2007

It is intended that the Forum will meet twice a year, to discuss scientific developments and topics that may have a significant future impact upon the regulation of pharmaceutical development and/or registration, for the purpose of ensuring that the relevant UK regulatory authorities are aware and ready to meet predictable new directions and challenges.

  The subject of this Forum was safety biomarkers, the purpose of which was to discuss the current use of safety biomarkers and the potential for developing and adopting new markers by industry and academia.

  The subject of Forum was benefit:risk decision analysis, the purpose of which was to examine the tools and techniques currently available to enable the pharmaceutical industry and regulators to undertake formalised assessments of the benefits and risks associated with medicines, their use during the lifecycle of the medicine, and what developments were needed to improve on current practice.

  The subject of this Forum was earlier access to medicines, the purpose of which was to debate whether making medicines available to patients at an earlier stage of their development was feasible and desirable.
