A healthcare professional complained to the MHRA about an article in the Daily Mail published 5 October 2007. The complainant was concerned that the article was promoting a prescription only medicine to the public. The article made reference to a new treatment licensed to treat a small group of epileptic children.
The complaint was not upheld. The press pack provided by Eisai Ltd. was consistent with the marketing authorisation. The MHRA also drew the complainant’s concerns to the attention of the Daily Mail who confirmed that they had sought views from an independent expert in childhood epilepsy.
