A member of the public complained to the MHRA about an advertisement for Dettol Liquid Antiseptic Disinfectant which appeared on Reckitt Benckiser’s Dettol website. The complainant alleged that the phrase 'Always read the label' did not appear on the Dettol website.
The MHRA upheld the complaint. Reckitt Benckiser apologised and added the mandatory information 'Always read the label' to the relevant page. The company also introduced additional measures to ensure that advertising of medicinal products on its websites complies with medicines advertising legislation.
