A healthcare professional complained to the MHRA about an advertisement for Gardasil produced by The Surrey Park Clinic, which was published in the February 2008 Guildford Magazine for consumers. The complainant was concerned th at the advertisement promoted a prescription only medicine to the public and contained a misleading claim.
The MHRA upheld the complaint and considered the advertisement to be in breach of regul ation 7 of the Advertising Regulations. Surrey Park Clinic agreed to withdraw the advertisement and have taken steps to ensure this will not happen again.
