1. How long in advance should I request a speaker?
Please try to give us as much notice as possible when requesting a speaker. Four to six months advance notice is ideal. We will accept requests at shorter notice, but we are less likely to be able to provide you with suitable speakers.

2. Can I request a specific speaker?
We encourage you to tell us if you would like a specific member of the MHRA team or if you would like someone with particular expertise, but be prepared to be flexible, as your first choice may not always be available.

3. What is the timescale for approval?
We endeavour to get back to you within four weeks of the initial request, however in some cases the approval process may take up to six weeks. Formal confirmation of acceptance of a speaking engagement is only given after internal authorisation processes have been completed. Please allow as much lead-time as possible prior to your event for us to locate an appropriate speaker, preferably four to six months. This consideration is necessary to give speakers adequate notice, ensure minimal disruption to their work schedules, and provide adequate advance notice to the requester that a speaker will or will not be available.

4. Why do I have to submit speaker request using speaker request form?
In order to consider your request, we require complete information related to your request.

5. Is there any guarantee that a speaker will be available?
No, there is no guarantee that the MHRA will be able to provide a speaker for your event.

6. If I know the speaker can I contact them directly?
No, approaching MHRA speakers directly will only delay your request as this can cause confusion and duplication of effort. Please make all your initial requests using the online speaker request form.

7. What is the procedure regarding MHRA speaker fees?
We expect commercial profile organisations/events to cover the standard speaker fee of £1,250 and meet speakers’ travel, accommodation and subsistence costs, for non-profit organisations/events we would only expect speakers’ travel, accommodation and subsistence costs to be covered. There may be some instances where a different level of financial compensation can be negotiated. The MHRA will send an invoice for the speaker fee during the month that the event occurs; this must be paid within 30 days on receipt of the invoice.

8. Where can I send feedback?
Please do email any feedback to the MHRA Central Enquiry point at info@mhra.gsi.gov.uk as this helps improve the service for other users. You may submit feedback in confidence if you wish.
