Advisory Board on the Registration of Homeopathic Products

The advisory board advises on the safety and quality of homeopathic medicines when there's an application for registration, marketing authorisation or licence of right.

Role of the advisory board

The Advisory Board on the Registration of Homeopathic Products’ (ABRHP):

  • gives advice on safety and quality in relation to any homeopathic medicinal product for human use, in respect of which a certificate of registration has been granted or applied for
  • gives advice on safety, quality and efficacy in relation to any homeopathic medicinal product for human use, in respect of which:
    • a marketing authorisation has been granted or has been applied for
    • a licence of right has been granted

Note: efficacy means acceptability and confirmation within the UK homeopathic tradition.

The secretariat is based at the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

The Code of Practice

Code of Practice on conflicts of interest applies to chairs, members, co-opted members and invited and patient experts of all our scientific advisory committees.  See Code of Practice.

The principles in the Code also apply to observers and invited experts who are asked to contribute written advice and do not attend committee meetings.
