Professor Angus Mackay, OBE, was Mental Health Service Director / Consultant Psychiatrist at the Argyll and Bute Hospital. He is qualified in medicine and pharmacology and is a member of various Scottish, UK and European bodies concerned with medicines regulation. Until recently, he was also Chairman of the Health Technology Board for Scotland (HTBS), a body established by the Scottish Parliament to advise the NHS in Scotland on the clinical and cost effectiveness of new and existing health technologies, including medicines and devices and was a member of the Committee on Safety of Medicines for 17 years.
